Have your say

We all have options in life, but ageing – with its benefits and disadvantages – is something that we all will have to learn to accept.

One of the lesser-known problems some people will develop is Age Related Macular Degeneration, which affects around one in every 2,000 elderly men and women and causes loss of central vision, though not peripheral.

The Macular Society has been offering support and advice for over 25 years, and there are local support groups throughout the country which offer help, advice and companionship.

To this end I was recently asked if such a support group could be established in Spalding and I am happy to say that there has been positive response thanks to the good offices of South Holland District Council, the Macular Society and the Boston Support Group.

There is a national helpline for more information on this condition on 0300 303030 111 or I can be contacted on 01775 722269 or and I will be happy to take contact details and pass on information regarding the support group we hope will be established shortly.
