Politics: We are very fortunate to have our MP

Have your say

Whilst Mr Bird’s comments (Linconshire Free Press, June 7) are welcome in support of John Hayes’ campaign against unsuitable wind turbines being imposed on local communities, it is ironic that his letter is published in the same issue of the paper that confirms that Mr Hayes has won the battle in changing government policy to give people the right to block wind farms they don’t want.

We are fortunate to have a Member of Parliament who has campaigned on behalf of local groups against wind turbines for more than decade, and is now in a position in Government where he can, and has, influenced overall policy.

Even when he was the Energy Minister, he refused to be intimidated by propaganda from the pro-wind industry.
