POLITICS: Residents are being short changed here

Have your say

In response to: “National ‘job’ for council leader” (Spalding Guardian, March 7).

Since Coun Gary Porter is now the (paid) Conservative Councillors’ Association chairman and the (paid) vice chairman of the Local Government Association, South Holland residents are getting short-changed.

It’s impossible for Coun Porter, as (paid) leader of the SHDC Conservative council, to engage effectively with residents’ issues when he is carrying so many (paid) responsibilities in other Conservative party executive positions.

South Holland local government has been reduced to ‘shared managers’ and a ‘part-time’ chief executive. South Holland needs and deserves a dedicated council leader prepared to make the effort and spend the time on issues that matter to South Holland.
