No savings by closing our custody cells

Have your say

REGARDING your Spalding Guardian story of September 29 about the police cells being closed.

How on earth could there possibly be a saving of even 1p by sending people to Boston or Grantham, round trips of approximately 40 or 80 miles, with at least one, possibly two police?

Then, if there is another policeman to cover while they are gone for two to three hours at a time, not to forget possibly two or three times a night at weekends, as opposed to opening a cell in Spalding police station and locking the door and the policeman back on the beat.

Whatever happened to time and motion studies and common sense?
