New football site would benefit many people for years to come

I would just like to add my support to the redevelopment of Spalding’s Holland Market and the moving of the town’s ‘green site’ (Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field) to a new much improved facility on the outskirts of town.

I have been involved with coaching junior football for the past six years with Spalding Athletic and during that time we have struggled to have any facilities within the area that are both suitable and cost effective for our training and matchday needs.

We are non-profit making and at this moment over the different age groups we train and play matches at three different sites.

The current site of the Sir Halley Stewart unfortunately is too small and outdated for our needs, so to have the chance of a state-of-the-art training facility and matchday home would be absolutely brilliant for over 200 children currently involved.

As I have been led to believe the new facility will also be available to other youth organisations and will benefit future generations over the coming years.

I would like the people of Spalding to keep an open mind on what is on offer to the town and look at the bigger picture, as they say, to what this generation can give to future generations of children in the town. A great facility available to all.
