INTEGRATION: Wish they had given us more notice of picnic

Have your say

Reading the article in the Free Press last week about the event staged by Linked2Gether to bring local cultures together, I was impressed that somebody was actually making an effort to get something sorted out as, whichever way you view the situation we all find ourselves in, it’s not going away, like it or not.

I don’t have an axe to grind in either camp as you have to face the real world these days and not cling on to day dreams, promises etc as built by those allegedly in power.

But while I welcomed this event as a starting point of sorts, my gripe is that I cannot recall seeing anything on the subject until this large article appeared as outlined.

It was the start of the Bank Holiday weekend and we were already going out to an event we had prior knowledge of, so although we would have liked to have popped along, perhaps the timing might have been better with a bit more notice?

Hopefully it will have been well attended. Regardless, I wish the event well and hope all goes well as the area needs something positive although the usual sneering elements will pour their usual brand of scorn no doubt.

Plan another event with more prior notice and I will pop along with tea making gear and a box of sarnies.
