IMMIGRATION: Positive impact of migrants

Have your say

Here we go again. “Let’s all bash Johnny Foreigner,” says the redneck faction of Spalding.

The fact of the matter is immigration has had a colossal, positive impact on our economy.

Without immigrant labour the local food production and processing industries couldn’t function.

These folk have crossed hundreds (if not thousands) of miles for work that the local unemployed are unable or unwilling to take up.

They have filled vacancies in all manner of services.

They have opened shops and other enterprises, paying rent to landlords, business and commercial taxes, council and income tax whilst buying goods and services locally.

And do you really prefer the grubby, old Halfords Cycles/ Connections frontage to the colourful ‘Global Foods’ shop front.
