Disappointed by complaint about MP

Given that he and his council colleagues are also able to claim for expenses incurred by their roles, I was disappointed to see Labour’s Philip Dilks complain about John Hayes MP.

It is typical of John that he was so courteous in response to what was a simple political attack.

Wouldn’t it have enhanced Coun Dilks’ reputation far more if he had simply said in print what he has often had the decency to say in meetings, that John Hayes is a fine, diligent constituency MP and widely admired here by people of all political persuasions?

John Hayes took a pay cut when he became a Minister to show his support for those struggling during the economic downturn, a decision about which he modestly said little.

We should be proud of our good local MP, who always sees it as his duty first and foremost to stand up for those least able to stand up for themselves.
