THE Sue Ryder Bookshop in Spalding celebrated World Book Day by playing host to a group of ladies from the Red Hat Society and local WI, who took it in turns to read a book whilst seated in an armchair in the front window, in an effort to raise public awareness of the availability of affordable books.

Sincerest gratitude to Ros, June, Berenice, Margaret and Pat, who represented the bookshop so elegantly, and Judith McCarthy (pictured), who organised the event.

Also, heartfelt condolences to the family of Mrs Posey, who was to read between 4pm and 5pm but was tragically killed in a road accident two days earlier.
