ACCIDENT: Incident could have been prevented

Thanks to all the people involved in helping my mother after her car accident outside West Pinchbeck church on bonfire night, which was partly caused by the irresponsible parking of visitors to the church.

Trying to pass half a mile or more of cars all parked bumper to bumper along a very dark road is not easy at the best of times.

She was unfortunately blinded by a combination of fireworks going off and the headlights of an oncoming car, which she tried to avoid and hit one of the parked vehicles.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all involved in her care that night, from the gentleman who walked just over a mile to knock on my door and inform me of the accident, to the various passers by who stopped to help, the LIVES first responders, the paramedics, the police and the fire brigade for all their help and kindness to her at what was a very distressing time.

I am very glad to say that she is relatively unhurt, just bruised and shocked.

I do however believe that this accident could have been prevented by better street lighting, more responsible parking and a couple of stewards on duty to help keep the road open and safe.
