YOUR LETTERS: Untouchable rail company cuts Spalding in two

Despite the failings surrounding Woolram Wygate rail crossing, I feel the good people of Spalding get a continually worsening deal from Railtrack (or whatever they are calling themselves this week).

Our town is frequently severed in two when they decide to send through these extraordinarily long goods trains.

The Wygate side of town is cut off from all emergency services whenever a train comes through – and this can take several minutes.

Even local trains cause havoc with in excess of 40 cars queued in Winsover Road for a train with often only one or two passengers on board.

Despite all this disruption, Railtrack seems untouchable and continues to “do as it likes”, appearing answerable to no-one.
