YOUR LETTERS: MP, listen to your voters over A16

A crash last year on the A16
A crash last year on the A16
Have your say

The following is an open letter for John Hayes, MP for South Holland and The Deepings:

I have been writing letters in our local newspapers, the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian, and have even tried to find a place on your local surgery regarding the following subject.

I’m contacting you because of my recent frightful experience. Something must be done now before more lives are lost.

Since it was built, myself and other road users have raised numerous concerns regarding the A16 between Peterborough and Spalding, in particular the junction known as Old Radar Corner, which marshals traffic to Spalding, Crowland, Holbeach and Peterborough.

We have had a number of fatal accidents in recent years on this junction and the road.

The question I am asking you, as MP for the above district, when will you start supporting voters’ voices and dedicate time to trying to help solve the problems on this killer stretch of road? And before you respond with “it’s drivers, not the road that is dangerous”, I do appreciate that it only takes one driver to cause an accident.

The simple truth is that we have to start protecting ourselves from them.
