Visitors to Spalding will this weekend have a chance to shape a new artwork trail for the town.

Transported is working with Spalding Gentleman’s Society on the ARTeFACT project - and this weekend a series of artefacts from the society’s collection will be displayed on a market stall from 10am to 1pm.

Residents can find out more about the items - and their feedback will be used when creating a ‘physical and animated arts trail’ around the town.

Artist Steven Hatton explained: “The trail is about breathing fresh life into the artefacts and introducing new audiences to the museum.

"The trail follows the spirit of this and whilst the artefacts are a traditional and permanent material, they are to be brought to life with vivid animations that respond to the ideas and thoughts of Spalding residents. The trail will be formed of etched brass panels which will form a route around the town.

“These will be augmented and brought to life with an app that allows the public to ‘scan’ the artworks and see and hear them come to life.”

School residencies and a museum open day will follow in the Arts Council-funded project, with the trail due to be installed this autumn.
