Year 5 children from Spalding Parish C of E Day School were invited to apply for the position and write a letter to explain why they would be great for the job.
The position includes promoting a love of reading at school, attending reading events, working closely with the town library and recommending books.
There was an interview day - with activities in the morning with younger children in the school and then an interview with a panel including teachers in the afternoon.
Eight reading committee members were selected and then a group of ambassadors, who they will work closely with.
They have already helped at the school’s new entrants evening and last week they visited Spalding Library to speak about the annual Summer Reading Challenge - in which pupils are encouraged to read six books in the summer break.
