Yarn bombing – decorating objects with knitwear or crochet – saw St Swithun’s Church at Bicker looking more colourful than anyone could remember.

Organised by Sue Adshead and Wendy Salisbury, the event was combined with a gift day, which saw the church netting more than £1,200.

Wendy said some visitors were moved to tears, saying they had never seen the church look more beautiful.

Men and women knitted for the bombing – and a scarf was passed from knitter to knitter until it became incredibly long. Some knitwear will be back for the steam threshing weekend on September 12-13 so people who missed it first time around can enjoy the display.
