WORD ON THE GROUND: 'If we continue to support one another, we will get through this'
I don’t know about you but I’m starting to struggle a little with the constant barrage of the general challenges we face as an industry, COVID-19 and of course Brexit.
It really can feel as though we’re surrounded on all sides. With everything going on, it’s perhaps hard to see the wood for the trees and I hope you’re all OK.
The pandemic has added significant amounts of pressure to businesses which already operates in an industry which already faces considerable challenges.
So I think it would be fair to say that we’ve been wading through a sea of negativity lately... and the outlook perhaps doesn’t look much better heading into winter.
While there are endless negatives we could focus on, I’d like to briefly touch on the positives I’ve picked up on over the past few months.
It’s at times like these that I’m really reminded of the can-do and caring spirit within our industry.
I’ve seen first-hand how people jump at the opportunity to help one another.
I’ve seen people going out of their way to donate produce, materials, equipment or simply their time to help and be there for others.
Charities such as LRSN and RABI have been all over the county providing support where needed and of course the NFU has also been there for its members.
We continue to live through uncertain times and there are many obstacles yet to overcome. But if there’s one thing I’m sure of it’s that, if we stay true to who we are and continue to support one another, we will get through this.
The NFU in particular is here to help and if you need any guidance or support over the coming months please do get in touch.
