OBITUARY: Philip Thorley

Philip, of Southfield House, Woolram Wygate, Spalding, has died in Peterborough City Hospital, aged 86.

Mr Thorley was born in Gosberton and educated in the village too.

He was a lorry driver for 43 years and had been an avid supporter of Manchester United all his life.

In his younger days he played football for Gosberton and Donington.

In 2007 he won a trophy for the best local fruit and vegetable garden.

Mr Thorley was married to his late wife Gladys for 61 years. He leaves a daughter Jacqueline Lowe and sons Jeffrey Thorley and Jonathan Thorley. He was predeceased by his son James Thorley.

A funeral service was held at Donington Church followed by cremation at the Surfleet crematorium.
