Lincolnshire Police cordoned off Spalding river bank after woman's body was found

Police are treating the death of a woman pulled from the river as 'unexplained'.

Officers closed off the river bank between Holbeach Road and Roman Bank yesterday (Sunday) after the body of a woman was found at 3.42pm.

Police have put out an appeal to discover the identity of the woman.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 3.42 pm yesterday (Sunday) to the Coronation Channel, next to St Paul’s Church, where the body of a woman was recovered from the water.

"At this stage the death is unexplained and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the woman.

"If you have any information to help our investigation, please call 101 with incident reference number 249 of 31 July.”
