West Pinchbeck Church Ladies Group celebrated have celebrated their 50th anniversary – and can still say they have 10 original members from 1966.
The celebration was at the village hall with songs, poetry, cake and a buffet and was reminiscent of the 25th anniversary, an event many of the current members attended back in 1991. Ladies attending who have been members since 1991 are Alice Cook, chairman Christine Cole, Wendy Rooke, Janet Iszatt, Jackie Cook, Anne Peach, and Val Wright, and some have been members since 1966.
The group was formed in 1966 by the Reverend Parsons’ wife Audrey, as there was a need for the group due to a lack of women joining the Ladies’ Union.
Alice Cook, a lifelong member, said original members of the group were between the ages of 25 and 30 at the time it started.
Initially the group had around 40 members and it was seen as a social club for young ladies.
The food was supplied by a company called By George Catering, whose owner is a relative of one of the members of the group.
