Former South Holland District Councillor's new role is a Slimming World success

Angie Harrison says she is loving her change of career after becoming a Slimming World consultant - and is now about to open another new group.

We reported in September how Angie (53) took on her new role after losing her seat as district councillor for Crowland and Deeping St Nicholas in the 2019 local elections.

She told how joining Slimming World in 2017 had helped her during a struggle with her own weight.

"At my heaviest, I weighed almost 15 stone and was at risk of developing serious health problems," she said.

In nine months she lost over three stone and is today at her target weight, having maintained it for well over a year.

She launched her own Slimming World group in Holbeach in September last year, which meets at the WI Hall, in Park Road, on Mondays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Since taking over the Holbeach group she said: "I have helped three of the members to reach their personal target weight in time for Christmas, losing over ten stones between them!"

And due to her success she has been asked to launch an additional, brand new group in Moulton. From Monday, January 13, the group will meet at Moulton Community Centre, off Broad Lane. It will run weekly, each Monday, from 10-11.30am.

"I am loving being a Slimming World consultant," Angie said. "I love helping people and that is what I loved about being a district councillor.

"This is fulfilling for me and it is so nice to help people reach their personal target weight and to inspire them and to be with them when they achieve it. It is something that cannot compare.

"It is nice to be able to be yourself and allow your own personality to shine through. It is where the two roles come together.

"It was the right decision to take on this role and I can see it growing. I really feel the Moulton group will be a great success.

"I know obesity is a big thing and it causes a knock-on effect to people's health, such as increased blood pressure and Type II diabetes.

"I have witnessed people lose weight and following the Slimming World food optimising plan, and they have been taken off their medication and no longer are Type II diabetic.

"It is not the same as a diet. It is seen as a lifestyle change. It is food optimising and no food is disallowed. It is about making it work for you."
