WEEKEND WEB: Pupils experience WW2 life in 2000

We look back at the Spalding Guardian this week in 2000

Children from Fleet Wood Primary School were evacuated when they went on a trip back to the 1930s.

More than 130 pupils visited Peterborough Museum for an experience of life in the Second World War as an evacuee.

Pupils and teachers dressed up in 1930s clothes for the trip – part of a war years project.

Community club off to a great start

A project hoping to make youngsters more aware of their communities got off to a fantastic start.

Gosberton Primary School’s community club organised a talk or visit after school each Wendesday which related to different parts of the community.

Children enjoyed a performance of Punch and Judy and a talk from the RSPCA schools’ liaison officer, David Ellis.
