WEEKEND WEB: Prince and princess chosen for 1999 Flower Parade

We look back at the Free Press this week in 1999.

Fun and games were on offer when more than 100 youngsters enjoyed a play session at Weston’s Fun Farm.

Children aged between six and ten entered this year’s Free Press and Spalding Guardian Prince and Princess competition to find two youngsters to ride in Spalding Flower Parade.

The winners were Tansy Coaten (9) of Holbeach and Byron Edards (9) of Whaplode. Runners-up were siblings Lewis (6) and Laura (8) Livingston, of Spalding.

Pupils celebrate Chinese New Year

A Holbeach school enjoyed a day of Chinese celebrations.

Children at William Stukely Primary School marked Chinese New Year inspired by their two Chinese pupils, Mark and Benny Fung.

The children learned all about Chinese culture and enjoyed a wide range of activities including noodle tasting, finding out why Chinese years are named after animals , making paper dragons and taking part in a dragon dance.
