CABINET CALL: A weekly column written by members of South Holland District Council’s Cabinet. This week with: COUN ANTHONY CASSON

As a councillor with a keen interest in public protection and supporting local businesses, I’m pleased to report that South Holland District Council has been experiencing significant success in this area thanks to the recently created Environmental Health Training & Consultancy (EHT&C) team that has been operational since May 2017.

The team, that was set up to offer local businesses environmental health consultancy services as well as a range of food, health and safety and licensing training courses, has delivered on all of its projected targets for the project so far.

Team members Craig Fowler, Andy Dawson and Daniella Nundy have decades of experience and professional knowledge between them. They’re also able to call upon a team of associates, all of whom are practicing regulatory officers, to advise local businesses on a variety of essential regulations and provide appropriate training.

Training and consultancy topics include food safety and hygiene, licencing, health and safety, animal welfare, pest control, contaminated land, noise and nuisance, labelling and allergens and drinking and bathing water quality.

Having quickly established itself as a team that local businesses know that they can trust for effective training provision and consultancy support, they have already secured repeat business and received positive feedback from customers.

The consultancy is now looking to build on its early success by putting a progressive marketing plan into action – to include networking and speaking at key events, mailshots to local businesses and interaction with potential customers on social media.

This activity should see them achieve increased growth and support businesses and residents of the district over the coming year and into the future.

EHT&C is also expanding its commercial offer with new products and services, as well as developing its consultancy offer. The training courses are interactive, jargon-free, have a high success rate and a nationally accredited qualification is awarded upon successful completion. Courses are available online, or face-to-face. To find out more about EHT&C’s consultancy and training services, call 0800 689 3512 or visit www.ehtc.co.uk
