Flower festival regatta a success in 1999

Welland Yacht Club held its most successful ever Flower Festival Regatta.

The regatta had the largest gathering of boats on the River Welland in 10 years and according to the club, possibly in its 41-year history.

Although the event was cut short by the tides, the regatta featured a visit from the Wilderness Boat Owners’ Club, which travels around various water festival and narrow boats, which had arrived from as far afield as Somerset, Yorkshire and Kent.
