WEEKEND WEB: Brownies and Guides mark Thinking Day

We look back to the Lincs Free Press this week in 1999

Long Sutton brownies and guides celebrated Thinking Day at Sutton St James village hall.

More than 90 children marked the birthday of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement and brownies and guides were encouraged to think of their counterparts all over the world, as they examined some of their crafts and cultures and each unit made a presentation on a chosen country.

A touch of colour was added with a fantastic spread of cakes made in all the colours of the rainbow - as shown off by Kerry Thompson (7).

Excellent report for Long Sutton school

Long Sutton County Primary School received a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors. The inspection, carried out the previous month, said the chool was excelling in all areas, especially at Key Stage 2 in English, maths, science, IT and music.

The report said thestandard of teaching was good, but on occasions, was outstanding. The report also praised head Miss Bridget Skanski for taking this school forward.
