Water taxi grounded by floods in drought

Have your say

SPALDING Water Taxi had to be grounded for a day because of flood water.

The Environment Agency opened the flood gates the other side of Market Deeping to stabilise river levels which were high as a result of recent heavy and prolonged rain.

Simon Clarke, of Broadgate Homes which runs the service, said: “As far as I can remember Thursday was only the second time in the past six years that we have not been allowed to operate while the Environment Agency open the floodgates.

“It is slightly ironic as we are supposed to be in a drought.”
