Trio of water main issues in Pinchbeck and Surfleet 'not linked'

Anglian Water says a trio of water main problems within a small area are not linked.

In the last month there have been burst mains at the junction of North Gate and Cross Lane and in Knight Street in Pinchbeck - as well as a damaged pipe in Surfleet Road.

The issues - which caused disruption for motorists and some supply issues for residents - took place within 26 days and less than three and a half miles of each other.

Temporary traffic lights were in place in Surfleet this month following a damaged pipe.

An Anglian Water spokesman said: "The team have investigated and found no links to any of the issues affecting the recent bursts in the area."

After last week's issue in Pinchbeck, water pressures were affected for miles around and some residents reported discoloured water coming from the taps.

This was caused by iron sediments stirred up by the repairs and, although unpleasant to look at, was said by Anglian Water to be harmless.
