Warning after opportunist burglar strikes in Holbeach

Police have warned residents to ensure doors to houses and outbuilding are secured after reports of an opportunist burglar.

An unknown man entered the rear of a property via an insecure door in King George V Avenue in Holbeach yesterday (Tuesday) while the occupants were home. The man, described as approximately 6ft tall and wearing dark grey jogging trousers, dark grey hoodie and dark woolly hat, escaped over the garden fence.

Another nearby resident found his garden shed had been entered by an insecure door and DJ equipment and bottles of spirits taken.

Anyone with information which may assist police with their enquiries are asked to call 101 and quote incident number 385 of December 3.

PCSO Jane Gardner from Holbeach Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Please ensure you keep your doors and outbuildings locked and as secure as possible. Lots of us store Christmas gifts and alcohol in outbuildings in readiness for the festive season.

"There will always be the opportunist thieves out there who will just open doors and take your belongings but wouldn't risk disturbing residents by breaking in. So don't make it easy for them."
