GUARDIAN ANGEL: The latest from our girl about town
Angel spotted a great excuse for eating all of the pies – not to mention the chips and cream cakes – when reading an ad outside a Spalding town centre job agency.
They are recruiting 7.5 ton drivers!
• A nicely cheeky chap from a charity was doing his best to drum up some interest from shoppers in Spalding’s Hall Place yesterday.
As some women were walking nearby, he called out: “Do I look fit?”
The reply from a lady of mature years was: “Yes. Fit to drop.”
• Angel was thrilled to find someone in Spalding to bake some special birthday cupcakes for her son’s girlfriend. She found Tulip Hill Cakery online and, in spite of short notice, an order was made. But everything could have gone horribly wrong because the Friday teatime deadline she had agreed had to be brought forward a day. After frantically trying to get hold of the bakery, there was a mix-up in the conversation agreeing a time and place for collection. Angel stood outside the Spalding Guardian office after work on Thursday, but no cakes arrived. Another frantic call and the mistake was realised, but the amazing bakery still came up with the cakes three hours later – with pretty swirls of pink and mauve icing and shimmering butterflies. And they tasted as good as they looked!
