Backlog could be reason why dental patients in Spalding, Holbeach, Long Sutton and Donington are struggling to get appointments

If you are struggling to get a routine dental appointment it could be due to updated NHS guidance to help dentists work through a backlog of patients.

While a number of dentists in the area have now been able to offer routine appointments again, some patients have found those appointments suddenly cancelled due to ‘new guidance’ issued last weekend.

A spokesperson for NHS England and NHS Improvement has said that priority for appointments must be given to urgent patients and those in vulnerable groups. But they added that people should continue to contact their surgery by phone for advice on dental care or treatment. They can contact NHS 111 for an urgent dental problem outside of surgery hours.
