Interested in local history and in exploring churchyards? If you are, this could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

The Algarkirk Project Group is looking for volunteers to join their research team working at St Peter and St Paul Church at Algarkirk.

The research team is involved in a range of tasks, such as collecting oral histories from local people, recording the gravestones in the churchyard and cataloguing documents. The aim is to develop a local history research centre inside the church.

There is also an introductory training session for those interested in becoming a volunteer tour guide at the church. It’s on Monday, November 9 (9.30am to noon) when Dr Matthew Godfrey will talk about the history and architecture of the Grade 1 medieval church. For both, ring 01529 461499 or email algarkirk@heritagelincolnshire.org
