Have your say

You could consider holding a street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Behind these big numbers is a huge contribution. These 21 million people are a shining example of how we can all make a big difference to individuals and communities every day from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support.

Such a big contribution is worth a tremendous celebration!

Volunteers’ Week

This year’s Volunteers’ Week has been extended to run, not for a week, but for 12 days, from June 1 to 12, thereby giving all the organisations, charities and groups even longer to say thank you to their wonderful volunteers.

The end of Volunteers’ Week will also coincide with the Patron’s Lunch on June 12, a celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday and lifetime of service to more than 600 charities and organisations to which she acts as a patron.

Communities across the UK are being encouraged to participate by holding their own street party or event. Why not consider holding a street party to bring those together in your neighbourhood, giving local communities a chance to enjoy the fun while also providing an opportunity to raise funds directly for local initiatives and community groups?

Are you a cook, or would you like to help prepare meals?

LCVS has opportunities with different organisations around South Holland which would like help cooking, preparing or serving meals.

The Pennygate Foundation

The Pennygate Foundation in Spalding urgently needs volunteer cooks and volunteer kitchen helpers to serve the meals and help with clearing away and washing up.

Donington Luncheon Club

Donington Luncheon Club is looking for volunteers on a Wednesday between 9am and 2pm who can help set up tables, serve meals, clear up and make tea.

Dunne’s Diner & Holbeach Community Kitchen
