From Crowland to Whaplode St Catherine


THE waste freighters will be at the groundsman’s shed at the Snowden Field on Saturday from 8am until 11am.

MOTHERING Sunday Service at Crowland Methodist Chapel on Sunday is at 10.30am.

CROWLAND Women’s Institute meets on Tuesday at the British Legion Hall at 7.30pm. The speaker is Sue Stephenson who will talk about childhood memories of country life. The competition is for a limerick on types of weather.


DONINGTON in Bloom’s plant and flower stall planned for the market place on Saturday has been cancelled. Organisers are hoping to have another fundraiser at a later date.

COFFEE and Chat on Saturday is at the church hall 10am-noon.

BEETLE drive will be played on Friday, March 22, 7pm at the church hall; £2 adults, £1 children.

ITEMS for the bric-a-brac, tombola,raffle and bingo, due to take place through the flower festival, are being collected. Gosberton Clough and Risegate

MOBILE library is in Gosberton Risegate on Thursday, March 21 at the Five Bells, 1-1.30pm.

THE Risegate Methodist Church has a craft club on a Monday from 7pm to 9pm, admission, £1.50.

SILVER Link Club meets in the Risegate Methodist on alternative Wednesdays, 2-4pm for over 60s.


EASTER bingo for Macmillan Cancer Support will be held in Holbeach Community Centre on Friday, March 15. Doors open 6pm for eyes down at 7pm. Prizes include cash and there will be a cake stall and refreshments available.

HOLBEACH Town Band’s monthly bingo is tomorrow at the WI Hall. Eyes down at 7.30pm. For more information phone 01775 712420.

Long Sutton

LONG Sutton Baptist Church lunches will be served as usual tomorrow, 11am-2pm.


CASH bingo and prize raffle will be held in the village hall on Tuesday. Eyes down 7.30pm. Refreshments available or bring a bottle.

ST Nicholas Church is holding its spring fayre in Long Sutton Church Hall on Saturday, March 16, 10am- noon. There will be stalls, raffles and refreshments. Proceeds are for the ongoing maintenance of Lutton Church.


WOMEN’S Institute annual meeting takes place at the 
village hall on Monday at 7.30pm when a new committee will be voted for. The 
competition will be for a spring flower arrangement in a tumbler. There will be a social time and “natter”. The spring council meeting at Springfields is on March 12 and the theatre trip to King’s Lynn is on March 19.

Sutton Bridge

THE new youth club is now fully active, and runs sessions for seven-11 year old 
“juniors” and 12 and over 
“seniors” on Thursday weekly in the Jubilee Room at the 
Curlew Centre.

Junior sessions run 6-7pm, with the senior sessions 7-9pm.

Please encourage the youngsters to come along and give it a try.

Whaplode Drove

THE wonderful sum of £466.65 was raised at the recent Saturday lunches, which will go towards the refurbishment of the Churchroom. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive and all who helped in any way to make this, and other previous fundraising events, so successful.

The Churchroom is now closed for the next few months whilst major renovation work takes place.

FLOWERS will be given to mothers and all ladies at this Sunday’s Mothering Sunday service at 11am at St John the Baptist Church.

THERE will be no Community Choir this Monday.

THERE will be a meeting on March 20 in the Memorial Hall at 7pm regarding the closure of these premises.
