Video game review: RARE REPLAY (X1)

Have your say

Step-back-in-time compilation package is such good value – out now.

This isn’t just one of the best compilation packages in recent memory – but with 30 games for under 30 quid it represents great value too.

It catalogues the history of esteemed gaming developers Rare from 1983’s Jetpac through to 2008’s Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise – and includes N64 console greats such as Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day – getting high definition upgrades along the way where possible.

There’s one or two minor missteps (which Rare doesn’t hide) – and due to licensing issues doesn’t include the legendary Goldeneye – but this is a sensationally presented step back in time which has many more hits than misses, making this a rare commodity.
