Video game review: NEED FOR SPEED (PS4/X1/PC)

Have your say

After a two-year hiatus this semi-reboot of EA’s stellar driving series is a bit of mixed bag.

It tries so hard to find a new identity – which it seems to have based around the fan-favourite Underground incarnations from ten years or so ago – but falls foul of schoolboy errors.

The Fast: superb visuals, familiar arcade-style handling and nice drift modes.

The Infuriating: undersubscribed single-player, hit-and-miss multiplayer and the inability to pause the ‘always online’ gaming mechanics.

That said, outside of the Forza series, this still gets most of the driving basics right – and there’s still plenty of speeding to enjoy here. Rating: 3/5
