The two fan favourite zombie-mashing adventures get a next-gen spit-and-polish – which provides the best iteration of the series yet to newbies.

This remastered version – which nicely improves the graphics but still suffers with framerate issues – probably doesn’t do enough to entice back anyone but the most hardcore of Dead Island enthusiasts, as the structural issues of the main games a few years on become hard to ignore – despite the undisputed open-world fun that still ensues.

Alongside the original game and the semi-sequel Riptide there’s also a fun 16-bit game thrown in called Retro Revenge set within the same universe – as this 40 hours-plus package gives you plenty of blood splatter for your buck.
