Video game review: ASSASSIN’S CREED (X1/PS4/PC)

Assassin's Creed.
Assassin's Creed.
Have your say

After the bug-filled mess that was Unity this is a welcomed return to form for the much-loved series – with a distinctly British twist.

You play as twin assassin siblings, Jacob and Evie Frye, as the industrial revolution hits 1868 London – and you must take out the city’s greedy leaders by rallying the underworld to break the corrupt stranglehold on the capital.

With a fun and action-packed main story and excellent Charles Dickens-inspired side missions – which take the stealth-inspired series back to what it does best – this is the best AC for years.

It is undoubtedly showing a few signs of inevitable repetition with yearly instalments – but with its addictive free-running to the backdrop of Buckingham Palace you won’t really care.

Rating: 4/5
