Charity begins at home was almost the rule of thumb when an admin worker at Spalding’s Johnson Community Hospital was tasked to organise an event.

Relief clinic clerk Vicky Blackamore is sitting an NVQ level 3 in business administration and the event counts towards her qualification.

So she put on an indulgence evening at work and every penny raised – some £782.05 – will benefit patients.

Around 100 visitors attended to enjoy treats such as local fudge, make-up, luxury nails, henna tattoos and reflexology.

Vicky said: “I am really pleased and a might do another one next year. It was really busy, it was better than I imagined.

“I was really worried I might not have enough people but it exceeded my expectations. Everyone seemed to have a good time.”
