UPDATE: Woman was killed in yesterday's Crowland A16 crash




UPDATE: A woman has died following a three-vehicle collision on the A16 yesterday.

At about 5.25pm, a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Viva and a grey Peugeot 308.

Police, Fire and Ambulance services attended and the driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Peugeot were taken to hospital with serious injuries and one remains in a critical condition.

The drivers of the Vauxhall van and the Vauxhall Viva were taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "

“We received a call at 5.22pm from our colleagues in the police force requesting medical assistance at a traffic collision on Peterborough Road near Crowland. We sent a paramedic in a car and three crewed ambulances, and two patients were taken to Peterborough City Hospital.”

Anyone who has dash-cam footage of the collision or saw the Vauxhall van prior to the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 350 of January 23 or report online at www.cambs.police.uk/report

UPDATE (THURSDAY, 9.03AM): The road is now open and traffic is flowing freely.

UPDATE (WEDNESDAY, 9.03PM): Emergency services are still at the scene of a serious multi-vehicle collision on the A16 between Eye and Crowland.

They were called at about 5.25pm this evening (Wednesday) with reports of a collision between three vehicles - not four, as earlier reported.

A number of people have been injured and the air ambulance has been at the scene.

The road is closed in both directions and will remain closed for several hours. Therefore motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Anyone who has dash-cam footage of the collision is asked to contact the Cambridgeshire Police road policing unit by calling 101.

PREVIOUSLY (WEDNESDAY, 8.51PM): Police are still at the scene of a serious collision on the A16 between Eye and Crowland.

The road is closed in both directions and will remain closed for several hours.

Therefore, all motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Officers are also appealing for anyone with dash camera footage of the accident to contact them on the 101 number. PLease quote incident number 267 of January 23.

PREVIOUSLY (WEDNESDAY, 6.50PM): The A16 at Crowland is closed after a serious accident which happened at around 5.30pm this evening (Wednesday).

Four vehicles were involved in the incident and two air ambulances are currently at the scene.

Police closed the road both ways between Peterborough Road South and B1443 Thorney Road at 6.15pm to assist emergency services.

They say it is likely to remain closed until later on tonight.

There is a detour in operation.

PREVIOUSLY (WEDNESDAY, 6.41PM): Police say the A16 at Crowland will be closed for the next few hours.

Officers from Lincolnshire are assisting colleagues from Cambridgeshire after an accident.

They are advising motorists to use alternative routes.
