UPDATE: Second woman dies almost three weeks after A17 crash

A 83-year-old woman has died following a collision on the A17 at Swineshead on Tuesday August 28.

Four people were in a Citroen Xsara when it was in collision with a white Mercedes Benz van. Passenger Mary Blades (84), known as Bernie, died following the crash.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision, which happened outside the Ivy Plant Shop on A17 at Swineshead at 12.15pm.

Officers would like to speak to the driver of a silver or light-coloured tanker they believe was travelling along the A17 in the location at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tanker may be a witness and was not involved in the collision in any way.

UPDATE MONDAY 9AM: Family pays tribute to crash victim

The family of the woman who died in a crash on the A17 on Wednesday, have paid tribute to her.

Mary Bernadette Blades, known as Bernie, was married to Frank and the couple were looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary in November.

A spokesperson for the family said: “We are all deeply shocked and devastated by this tragic accident.”

Bernie, 84, also leaves a son and daughter, two grandchildren and a three-week old great- granddaughter.

UPDATE FRIDAY 11.30AM: Elderly woman dies following crash

A woman in her 80s, who was injured in a two-vehicle crash on the A17 at Swineshead on Wednesday, has died.

She was a passenger in a Citroen Xsara - which was in collision with white Mercedes Benz van at about 12.15pm - and was from the Spalding area.

Police are again appealing for any witnesses to the collision, including those with dashcams, should call 101, quoting incident reference 186 of August 29.

UPDATE FRIDAY 9.15AM Renewed witness appeal for A17 crash in Swineshead

Police are repeating their call for any witnesses who saw a two-vehicle crash on the A17 in Swineshead to contact them.

A white Mercedes Benz van and a silver Citroen Xsara collided near Ivy's Farm Shop, in Villa Lane, Swineshead, at about 12.15pm on Wednesday.

Four people were injured in the crash, two very seriously who were both taken to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, one by air ambulance.

Another patient was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, for further treatment.

Police confirmed that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction, northbound, towards Swineshead Bridge, at the time of the crash and anyone who saw what happened should call 101, quoting incident reference 186 of August 29.

Wednesday 1.40pm: Woman flown to hospital by air ambulance

A woman in her 80s has been flown to hospital by air ambulance following a crash in Swineshead.

A white Mercedes-Benz van and a silver Citroen Xsara were in collision near Ivy's Farm Shop on the A17 at 12.18pm.

Police, Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service and the air ambulance were all present and four people from the car were treated for their injuries,with three suffering minor injuries.

The road has been closed - drivers should find alternative routes.

Witnesses to the collision should call 101 as soon as possible, quoting incident 186 of today (August 29).
