UPDATE: Lorry driver arrested after fatal collision

Thursday, 4pm: Police have released the name of a van driver killed on the A17 last week.

He was Sean Andrew Flowers, of New Balderton, near Newark.

Sunday, 9pm: A LORRY driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal accident at Swineshead Bridge on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the accident on the A17 at 1.50pm after a collision involving four vehicles.

A 45 year-old man from Newark, who was the driver of a white Vauxhall Combo van, died at the scene. The other vehicles were a black Fiat Doblo, a heavy goods vehicle and a red Honda Civic.

The driver of the HGV, a 51 year-old Lincoln man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on police bail until June 14.

The driver of the Doblo was a 25-year-old woman from Pontefract and the driver of the Civic was a 63-year-old Boston man. They attended Boston Pilgrim Hospital but are not believed to have been seriously injured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who were driving along the A17 on Friday afternoon and who have any information about the collision to contact the collision witness hotline on 01522 558855.
