UPDATE FRIDAY 9.53AM: Four-vehicle crash in Hawthorn Bank, Spalding, leaves one person needing treatment at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston




One person was taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash near a level crossing in Spalding, it has been confirmed.

It happened in Hawthorn Bank where emergency services, including two LIVES First Responders and a private ambulance, attended at about 1.55pm on Wednesday.

The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, with what a Lincolnshire Police spokesman described as "minor injuries".

One person was helped free from their vehicle after a crash in Spalding today.

It happened in Hawthorn Bank where fire crews from Spalding and Market Deeping were called to shortly before 2pm.

Firefighters used cutting gear to release a casualty and then made an unspecified number of vehicles safe.

Later on Wednesday, firefighters were called to a lorry alight in Chapel Gate, Sutton St James.

It happened just after 3.50pm and left damage to the lorry's control panel.

However, the fire was out by the time a crew from Long Sutton had arrived.
