A driver was airlifted to hospital after suffering face and chest injuries in an accident in Frognall.

Police received a report of a collision on the B1525 Spalding Road, near to Hards Lane, just before 4pm yesterday.

The injured man, in his 60s from the Peterborough area who was driving a Volkswagen Polo, remains in hospital today.

The driver of an Iveco van, also involved in the collision, is not thought to have been seriously injured.

A statement from Magpas Air Ambulance said: “At 4.20pm yesterday Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived near Market Deeping via the Magpas Air Ambulance, following a road traffic collision involving a car and a van.

“The Helimedix assessed a man in his 70s who had suffered face and chest injuries. The Magpas team provided the patient with advanced pain relief, before flying him to Peterborough City Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a stable condition.

“The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene/ the patient and Helimedix to hospital was Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Chris Hawkins.”
