UPDATE FRIDAY 9.55AM: Tin of 'loose change' stolen from Spalding beauty salon after smash and grab raid on Friday

Police are to study CCTV images to hunt down whoever smashed the window of a beauty salon in Spalding.

A money tin containing about £20 in "loose change" was stolen during the raid at The Beauty Room, Victoria Road, Spalding, overnight between Thursday and Friday.

Salon owner Louise O'Connor said: "At about 1.50am this morning, somebody broke in and took and empty money tin with loose change in it.

"There was a brick found on the ground outside my salon but they didn't come in because the alarm didn't go off.

"Instead, they reached through the smashed window and took the money tin off the desk.

"It had less than £20 in it and there's a small snippet of CCTV that's been sent to the police."

Louise confirmed it was the second time in five years that the salon has been targeted and they hope to open as usual later today.

She said: "It's gutting because I've worked so hard to build up a business and we try to do a lot for charity as well.

"The police have been amazing and I'd also like to thank a lady from the Butterfly Hospice Trust shop in Station Street who rang me at 7.10am about the break-in."

"We've had to cancel a few appointments this morning, but we're hoping to be open this afternoon."

The Beauty Room is the second business to have been broken into in Spalding this week after an incident at The Lighthouse Project shop and cafe in Sheep Market, Spalding, some time between Saturday night and Monday morning.

However, there is no suggestion yet that the two break-ins are linked.

Anyone with any information should call Spalding Police Station on 101.
