Two arrests after A16 accident this morning




Police have made two arrests after an accident on the A16 at Surfleet this morning (Monday).

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 34-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the accident, after a Hyundai I40 collided with a bollard.

Both suspects remain in police custody.

A police spokesman said: "At 2.52am today, we received a report of a single car collision on the A16 Spalding Road, Surfleet. A Hyundai I40 had collided with a bollard.

"A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 34-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the RTC. Both remain in police custody."

The road has since re-opened.

PREVIOUSLY: The A16 has re-opened again after an accident at 2.52am today (Monday).

The road was closed both ways for several hours from the A152 to A17 Station Road (Sutterton roundabout) due to recovery work.

The situation was made worse by a lorry breaking down in the queues at 8.01am.

The incident affected traffic between Spalding and Boston.
