The latest news from our girl about town, Guardian Angel

Angel bought favourite nephew an iPod Shuffle fior his birthday last week... but there were very strict conditions attached!

1 – When he is in company, if he must use it, one ear must be free so he can join in conversation.

2 – He must NOT use it while walking to school. Recently, while trying to park opposite Spalding Grammar School, Angel had to crawl along behind a student totally oblivious to traffic because she had the thing on so loud.

n Like most, Angel has suffered a little in the recent hot spell, but she did witness something she’d not seen before while driving along the A1101 from Tydd St Mary to Long Sutton on Tuesday evening... several water mirages all over the road near McDonalds.

* Foreign shops in the area get a lot of criticism locally for covered-up windows or garish paint schemes – so Angel thought it high time to give them some praise.

The girls from the shop on the corner of Sheepmarket and The Crescent in Spalding are constantly outside sweeping and cleaning the shop frontage and the chap who runs it is friendly too.

* It’s been a horrible couple of weeks in this world of ours with terrorism acts shocking all of us, but look around you in south Lincolnshire and you can see there’s still a lot of kindness to be seen too.

Recently Angel has been to a school fete, a dog show and a village fair – all manned by volunteers and all raising money for charity. Good on you.

* Congratulations to new Coun Jack McLean and his Spotless Spalding group. So often councillors are accused of saying but not doing but young Jack is certainly walking the walk.
