Recently we enjoyed a lively chat with Lincolnshire Community & Voluntary Service chief executive David Fannin.

With offices at Boston, Louth, Grantham and Spalding, the CVS is on hand to help voluntary and community groups access funding from the many ‘pots’ available throughout the county and online.

David told us the CVS has dedicated staff on hand to advise and guide groups as to the likely success of their applications and, if necessary, assist in writing bids. They deal with projects like these on a daily basis and are in regular contact with funders nationwide. Many local groups such as village halls and sports clubs rely on external funding to achieve their goals but lack the necessary skills to successfully secure funding.

David talked about the Arnhem commemoration at Woodhall Spa that was funded to help the organisers secure the attendance of as many veterans as possible as well as dedicating a memorial to the wartime raid, which is placed in the garden of the Cottage Museum there.

The Spalding office is based within SHDC’s main buildings in Priory Road and is open every day of the week although David told us it’s probably best to arrange an appointment in order to guarantee the services of the right person.
