A First World War researcher is trying to find descendants of a Cowbit man taken prisoner by Germany in 1918.
William Robert Barnes was captured on May 27 1918 and held at the Prisoners of War camp at Dänholm, Stralsund. He was 21.
The museum there has a label from a Red Cross bread parcel sent to Pte. Barnes, who was an orderly in the camp.
He was repatriated via Denmark after the armistice and married Margaret Isabella Prest in 1921. They lived in Spalding with their two daughters Miriam and Joyce. Mr Barnes died in 1936.
Miriam married Lesley R. Bryant in 1946 in Spalding.
