Tributes for 'Mr Crowland' Shane Cridland have poured in after the Ashwood Homes site manager passed away last week

Tributes have poured in after a man known as ‘Mr Crowland’ sadly passed away last week.

Shane Cridland, who was 61 and lived in Boston, was site manager for South Holland property company Ashwood Homes.

After joining the group in May 2016, he presided over five major developments in Crowland - helping to build over 200 houses off James Road and Crease Drove.

An Ashwood Homes spokesperson told the Spalding Guardian just how much Mr Cridland meant to them.

“There were so many outpourings of condolences because everyone loved him,” they said.

“He was everyone’s friend, he had time for everybody. He was a truly, truly lovely gentleman.

“Customers adored him, as did contractors, suppliers, people who worked with him in his office. Everyone had time for him - he was just one of those genuine lovely people.

“He was just a really helpful guy with a can-do attitude that everyone loved.”

Mr Cridland had worked in construction from around the time he left school, and the impact he had at Ashwood will leave a lasting legacy.

“He built every single house from scratch. He was there from day one,” the spokesperson said.

“He did groundwork and laid foundations right up to key handover on that completion day.

“He was really loved by the customers here.”
