Christmas shoppers in South Holland can spend their money at Lincoln’s Christmas Market next Sunday after successful talks between Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum and East Midlands Trains.
There will be two special services from Spalding to Lincoln, at 9.31 and 10.31, with trains leaving Lincoln for Spalding at 2.45pm and 4pm, all of them operating on Sunday, December 4.
Forum chairman George Scott (pictured right with Spalding East and Moulton county councillor Richard Fairman) said: “We complained to East Midlands Trains that people in this area don’t get a chance to go to Lincoln Christmas Market.
“So with the full support of John Hayes MP, East Midlands Trains have made it a bit better this year by laying on extra carriages on Sunday.”
Rob Mercer, Area Station Manager for East Midlands Trains, said: “Lincoln Christmas Market is one of the most popular events anywhere on our network and we are delighted to help bring thousands of visitors from across the country and beyond to the city over the weekend.
“We are providing thousands of extra seats to make it as easy as possible for visitors to enjoy the historic medieval square and city centre of Lincoln, as well as extra staff who will be on hand to help customers at many of our stations.
